    OIPfishing

Would there be any interest in the community for a kids fishing day this summer probably somewhere local like Mahoney, Memphis or another local lake.

As a tournament angler I have a passion for fishing that I want to share with the youth in our community. There is a few other fisherman in the area that I would try to bring on board to help your kids catch fish and hopefully help teach them a few things in the process.
If there is enough interest in this I would start looking into a few sponsors for the event and maybe be able to get t- shirts and or poles for each child.

Contact Jeff Stewart in Greenwood Nebraska if interested...

AGPS Foundation Dinner: April 28th

All Are Welcome!

Did you realize this amazing event is for EVERYONE?  Have you been waiting for a chance to get involved and support our students?  Are you in need of a fun and exciting night?  Do you like to see students recognized for their success?  Curious who won the prestigious Alice Raikes Distinguished Teaching Award for 2023?  Want to hear the Ashland-Greenwood Alumni of the Year Award winners speak?  If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, then you should consider joining us at the Ashland-Greenwood Public School’s Foundation Dinner on Friday, April 28th.  Did we share....it is for EVERYONE!  Please join us.

The Ashland-Greenwood Public School Foundation will be holding its annual dinner, silent and live auction on Friday, April 28, 2023 at Round The Bend Steakhouse.  The evening starts off with a 5:00 p.m. social hour followed by dinner at 7:00 p.m.  Tickets are on sale now.  They can be purchased for $40.00 at the Lutton Law Office, 1442 Silver Street, Ashland, the Ashland-Greenwood District Office, 705 N. 17th Avenue, Suite #3, Ashland, or from a Foundation Board Member.  This is a time for us to celebrate Ashland-Greenwood Public Schools and our community by recognizing students, faculty, staff and outstanding alumni.

This year the foundation will be honoring an Alumni of the Year award.  The Raikes family will also be awarding one deserving teacher the Alice Raikes Distinguished Teaching Award.  This is a great social event that allows people to mingle with friends, alumni, faculty, and folks that you may not have seen in a while.  It's a great time, and a great way to support our school district and community.

The funds raised from the 2023 dinner will help the foundation continue to support many worthy programs and projects such as:  teacher grants, student scholarships, and buidling furnishings, a primary school marquee, etc…

Hope to see you all there!

Red Cross honors local community heroes

during Red Cross Month celebration in March

Nebraska residents advance legacy of Clara Barton, one of most honored women in US history.

FEBRUARY 28, 2023 — This March, the American Red Cross is honoring those who make its mission possible during the 80th annual American Red Cross Month celebration — a national tradition that began in 1943 when President Franklin D. Roosevelt issued the first Red Cross Month proclamation.

“When help can’t wait during emergencies, people in Nebraska rally together to provide relief and hope for neighbors in need,” said Jill Orton, CEO of the Nebraska-Iowa Region of the American Red Cross. “This humanitarian spirit is at the heart of our community, and we are proud to honor all those who make our mission possible during this year’s Red Cross Month celebration. You can join in their commitment by donating, volunteering, giving blood or platelets, or taking a lifesaving skills course.”

Participate in Red Cross Month by visiting redcross.org to become a volunteer, give blood or platelets,

make a financial donation, or take a class in lifesaving skills, such as first aid, CPR and how to use an AED. On March 22, you can also join our annual Red Cross Giving Day campaign by donating at redcross.org/givingday to help provide shelter, food, relief items, emotional support and other assistance for people affected by disasters big and small.

CONTINUING CLARA BARTON’S LIFESAVING LEGACY Today’s Red Cross volunteers, blood and platelet donors and supporters are advancing the lifesaving legacy of Clara Barton — one of the most honored women in U.S. history — who founded the American Red Cross more than 140 years ago. Her vision to prevent and alleviate human suffering has never wavered: Generation after generation, people have come together to adapt this timeless mission for their communities’ most urgent needs.

PREVENT A BLOOD SHORTAGE When volunteer blood and platelet donors lend an arm this March, they’ll help keep the blood supply from dropping further this spring. All who come to give blood, platelets or plasma March 1-31, 2023, will receive a $10 Visa® Prepaid Card by email.* Plus, they'll be automatically entered for a chance to win a $3,000 Visa Prepaid Card – which could help toward expenses like gas or groceries. There will be five lucky winners.*
