Meeting Minutes

Call to order  

Meetting was called to order by Assistant Chief Don Wilkin at 1929 hrs Roll call was taken and quorum was established.

Minutes of August Meeting and Approval

 Minutes from the August 8th meeting were read.

Treasures Report/ Claims

 No bills

Communications from the public.

.Roger Buck from Northern Natural Gas gave a presentation before the meeting on pipeline safety.  Eric Rasmussen from the Rural Board stated that LB 952 will be going into effect on January 1 2017.  This simply states the County commissioners in each individual county will be repsonsible for providing EMS for the county.  Michelle Criswell from the Village Board stated that a progress report for the department interviews will be asked about at the September 28 th meeting.  She encouraged all member of the department to attend.  A $50 donation was received from the Funeral Dinner Ladies and a $20 donation was recieved from Kenny and Jean Stewart in memory of Keith Weston.

Chief's Report

Chief Sobota reminded everyone that harvest season is upon us.   Be aware of large machines when traveling in the rural areas.  It is still very wet so when at all possible leave the bigger trucks and 2-wheel drive trucks on the county roads.  Do not take them off road unless absolutely necessary.  Don't be afraid to call for mutual aid in case of inclement weather.  Keep the trucks and bays clean!!! If you use it put it back!!!.   Jeff and Shelby did a great job with the Greenwood Days event.  Also thanks to the Tracy's for showing off the new cot and ambulance.

Captain's Report

Captain Tracy reminded everyone that Ferno will be here September 21 st to train on the new cot. He encouraged the training for both fire and rescue members.  Good job covering calls.  The radio saga has taken yet aother turn and now Cass County will be changing fire communications over to 800 Conventional.  We have most of the equipment but will need to replace all of our pagers.Estimated completion is 12-14 months.

Training Report

Fire Fighter II will be starting in Ashland September 13th.  The EMT blended class thru SCC is now available.

Safety Officers Report

Several Departments have had accidents. En route, returning to the station, and at any other times.  Wear your seatbelts and drive accordingly!!!

Assignment of Duties

Fire Prevention Week is October 9th-15th. An event is being planned in conjuntion with the lighting of the streets and a Grand Opening of the new Yoders Amish Furniture Building.

Ashland Rescue needs EMT's and Drivers for standby at football games

New Business

Huy Mach's application for membership was read.  Mark Sobota moved to approve Huy as a probationary member pending village board approval. Jeff Stewart seconded. Vote taken and motion passed.

Mark Sobota moved to accept Blase Jadwin as a full member.  Jeff Stewart seconded.  Vote taken and motion passed.  Blaze was then sworn in as a full member.

Letter of resignation from Dave Morgan was read.  Scott Tracy moved to accept and Amy Dickes seconded and vote was taken. Motion passed

Second Roll Call/ Adjournment  

Second roll call was taken and quorum was established.  Jeff Stewart moved to adjourn and Amy Dickes seconded. vote was taken and motion passed. meeting adjourned at 2155 hrs.
